This project is an exhibition design for Kyoto Graphie, the annual international photography festival held in Kyoto, Japan. It reactivates a historic building, formerly used as the Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank for over 90 years, as KG+ Square, a central hub for satellite events across the city, showcasing works by emerging international photographers. Working within a limited budget and a large interior, the design proposes a single, continuous element to structure the space. A large piece of fabric, dyed in the signature yellow of KG+, extends throughout the building, forming the scenography and exhibition system. This fabric operates both spatially and functionally. It defines circulation, frames displays, and creates varying conditions of openness and enclosure, while establishing a cohesive visual identity. Through this approach, the project transforms the existing interior into an immersive environment, where a minimal intervention supports multiple programmes and modes of exhibition.
