PAN- PROJECTS is an art and architectural design studio based in London. Founded in Copenhagen in 2017 by Yuriko Yagi and Kazumasa Takada, the studio has worked from London since 2019 on projects across the UK, Japan and Europe. The studio conceives architecture as an art of fabrication, in which materials, people, places and activities are brought together until form appears. Its work ranges from furniture and spatial installations to architecture. Each project grows from research into its context and is realised in close collaboration with makers, communities and clients, assembling matters to construct stories that carry meaningful messages to share. This experimental and interdisciplinary approach has received international recognition. In 2026 the studio was selected for the Architecture Foundation’s New Architects 5. Its solo exhibition Know the Ropes was presented in Estonia as part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme, and mum was exhibited at DesignArt Tokyo and Milan Design Week in 2023. In 2021 the studio realised The Matter of Facts, a large-scale spatial installation at the National Art Center, Tokyo. That same year it received an Honourable Mention at the Venice Biennale’s Young European Architects exhibition and was longlisted for Emerging Architecture Studio in the Dezeen Awards. Earlier work was shown in the Under-35 Architects exhibition in Japan in 2019. The studio’s first built work, Paper Pavilion, won 1st Prize at the Copenhagen Art Fair/CHART Architecture Award in 2017. Since its founding, the studio has been developing Architecture of By-products, a series of research-led projects exploring how waste materials, long embedded in architectural traditions, can be reimagined as storytellers of urban life. From ash-mixed London stock bricks to rice-straw tatami mats, the research traces how communities have transformed by-products into building materials. Through this lens, the studio proposes new ways of reconnecting material cycles, cultural memory and collective making. Kazumasa Takada (ARB/RIBA) has taught at the Royal College of Art in London since 2022, where he co-leads SuperReuse platform, an MA studio dedicated to radical and experimental practices in architectural reuse. Yuriko Yagi is a registered architect in Japan and the winner of the RIBA Journal Rising Stars 2025, an award recognising both her work to date and her potential to shape the future of architecture.
